A new linguistic institute

From 2014 there will be a new linguistic institute at UZH: the Institute for Comparative Linguistics will be founded around the beginning of the new year. The new institute will unite the present Department of General Linguistics, the Department of Indo-European studies, the Phonetics Laboratory, the Phonogram Archive, and the Psycholinguistics Research Unit.

The two chairs (General Linguistics, Indo-European Studies) will be preserved. The other institutions will be joined to the institute as laboratories. In addition, the possibility of building up a closer connection between the new institute and the URPP laboratories (Corpus Lab, Video Lab, GIS Lab) is also considered in order to make the labs' services permanently available.
